From Teacher to Celebrant
I spent over 20 years as a teacher, qualifying back in 2001. For a long time, it was everything I'd hoped for. I taught not just across the UK, but in incredible places—Moscow, the Netherlands—and made lifelong friendships along the way. There's something magical about connecting with people from completely different backgrounds and finding that common ground.
But over time, something shifted. Teaching became less about creativity and connection, and more about paperwork and box-ticking. The joy started to fade. I found myself thinking: this isn’t the job for me anymore.
The Celebrancy Lightbulb Moment
For several years, I'd thought about training as a celebrant. But it was my 50th birthday that finally pushed me to take the leap. I enrolled in the Master Celebrant Course at the Academy of Modern Celebrancy, and from day one, I knew I'd made the right decision.
The creativity came flooding back. The support from fellow celebrants and my mentor was incredible. And most importantly, I found genuine purpose again. There's something profoundly special about being trusted with people's stories—whether they're stories of love, loss, or new beginnings. I feel incredibly privileged every single time.
Best Decision Ever
Becoming an independent celebrant has honestly been the best decision of my life. It combines everything I loved about teaching—the storytelling, the public speaking, connecting with people—with complete creative freedom and the chance to be part of moments that truly matter.

I'll be completely honest: I adore elegance. Give me an Art Deco setting, a castle with history seeping from the walls, or a stately home with chandeliers and sweeping staircases, and I'm utterly in my element. There's something about those venues—the sense of occasion, the way people light up when they dress to the nines, the sheer beauty of it all.
But here's the thing: that's my style. Your ceremony is about your style. Maybe you share my love of glamour and grandeur. Or maybe you're more drawn to a rustic barn, a beachside setting, or your own back garden. Whatever feels right to you is exactly where we should be.

Beyond the professional side, I'm a music lover (everything from classical to Bruce Springsteen), a dedicated foodie, and someone who genuinely values community and connection. I believe in the power of bringing people together—whether that's family and friends gathering for a wedding, a community honouring someone's life, or loved ones welcoming a new arrival.
I've also lived in several countries, so I understand and appreciate different cultures, traditions, and perspectives. This makes me particularly passionate about creating inclusive ceremonies where everyone—regardless of background, faith, or relationship—feels genuinely welcome.
