General Questions About Celebrants
An independent celebrant is a trained professional who creates and conducts personalised ceremonies for significant life events. Unlike registrars (who must follow legal scripts) or religious officiants (who work within their faith traditions), independent celebrants offer complete freedom to create bespoke ceremonies that reflect exactly what you want.
Wedding Questions
In England and Wales, not yet—though laws may change in the future. Currently, the legal part must be done with a registrar.
Most couples do a short registry office signing a few days before their celebration, taking just two witnesses. Think of it as admin, like getting your marriage license. Then you have your real ceremony—the one your friends and family attend—with me, exactly as you want it.
Naming Ceremony Questions
A christening is a religious ceremony within a specific faith tradition. A naming ceremony is the secular, inclusive alternative with no religious requirements.
Naming ceremonies offer complete freedom—you decide who's involved, what promises are made, what rituals are included, and what the whole event looks and feels like.
